Baby Car Sear Canopy

Baby car seat Canopy

For my first project I will demonstrate how to make a car seat canopy for your little munchkin.

What you need.

1 1/6 yards of cotton or flannel fabric
1 1/6 yards of cotton or warm soft blanket type of fabric for the backing
6" width of another fabric that will coordinate for the handles ( you can use the same fabric used for the backing)
2.5 " width of another fabric ( I used the same as the top fabric)
Thread that will coordinate with your fabric
Sewing machine
Scissors
Large bowl
Marker

This project is quite simple if you have basic sewing skills. However you might need to measure your car seat to make sure it will cover the whole thing. It makes a great gift for a new baby. This car seat will be for my beautiful new baby nephew, Diego.

The how to:

Cut the top and backing fabrics to a 35" wide X 42" long (again measure your car seat before). If you choose a pattern like fabric, make sure to cut it so the pattern is the right direction. ( you may need to get a bit more fabric).

To create curved corners use a large bowl to trace a line. Now you may cut the trace line and sew it.  Or if your like me and are not the best at making straight lines, just trace it sew it following the line and then cut the excess.

Now for the straps. You'll need to cut four pieces of fabric. Two traps of a 6" x 9 1/2" for the background one. And two straps of 2" x 9 1/2" dimension for the top. You can also use ribbon as straps if you wish.
